Especially appropriate for these days of suffering in our nation is the responsorial psalm for the Fourth Sunday of Advent, “Lord, make us turn to you; let us see your face and we shall be saved” (cf. Psalm 80). In a world that is becoming increasingly secular, not only must we invoke the remembrances of the mighty deeds of God as we implore his intervention to save the world, but also must we remember to bring about the plan of salvation through the work of our own hands. Let us be Christ for one another.
